The course covers the motivation behind the use of Agile terminology and mindset in respect to organizational agility and value management.
The role the PMO is described relating to agile methods and integration into existing organization non-agile or hybrid methods. The course then describes agile techniques, terminology and how PMOs can play an integral role in being custodians for an Agile maturity model (which is covered). A glimpse into the future on topics such as AI, robotics and automation and their impact on Agile projects then leads to a discussion forum of the role of PMO in projects, programs and portfolios. Findings from AIPMO's Vision 2030 are then included to help understand how to position PMOs to maintain their impact over the next decade.

AIPMO is the Association of International Project Management Officers, a non-for profit association representing International Project Management Officers (IPMO), including project, program, and portfolio managers involved in defining, establishing and running high performing Project Management Offices (PMOs) in and across industry sectors.
The AIPMO association is actively involved in identifying the building blocks and constructing them with the long term aim of helping to create PMO management as a profession. Referring to the figure below, the building blocks and relationship between them shows the progress made in this endeavor.

Course Details
Governance and governance practices if designed and establish property, will increase the lowlihood of project success (Joslin 2016). Governance is an area that is poorly understood but has major implications not only to organizations meeting their stated objectives but also compliance within their industry. This course is based on project governance books/papers from Prof Ralf Müller and Professor Robert Joslin which have been written into the governance section of PM standards. The course walks you through the realm of governance, what it is based on and how to implement governance in the form of governance practices across the portfolio of programs, projects and PMOs. There are exercises and assignments that help to solidify your understand of the differences between management and governance in terms of principles, objectives, activates and much more which you can apply to your own organization. This should be a mandatory course for all PMO professionals because of their governance role in the PPP environment.

Ralf Muller
Ralf Müller is Professor of Project Management and former Associate Dean at BI Norwegian Business School – Oslo – Norway, as well as adjunct and visiting professor at many other institutions worldwide. He lectures and researches in PMO, leadership, governance, organizational project management, and research methods, which is also the subject of his approximately 200 academic publications. Among the awards he received are the 2015 PMI Research Achievement Award (a life-time achievement

Dr. Robert Joslin – Professor, Founder of the Association of International PMOs and the co-author of the AIPMO body of knowledge©, PfMP®, PgMP®, IEEE, CEng is a project/program/portfolio management consultant, instructor, and academic researcher. He has 20 plus years in designing, initiating project and program management delivery of large-scale business transformation, reengineering, infrastructure, strategy development initiatives including winning prizes for ideas and product innovation. Previously, he has been a consultant in wide-range of industries including telecom, banking, insurance, manufacturing, and direct marketing whilst working for McKinsey & Co, Logica and his own consulting company.
Robert has published many books, chapters and research papers in the field of project, program and portfolio management and presents his research at conferences such as PMI® research and the European management conference (EURAM). He won the best paper award for EURAM – PMI® and IPMA conference in 2015. Robert is the founder and organizer of the annual PMI® Swiss program management conferences which is the biggest PMI® event in Switzerland where researchers and senior practitioners present their latest findings.

What is the difference between Core, Foundational and Specialist certifications?
Each of certifcation categories serve a difference purpose. The first category 'PMO Core Certifications' show you have the competencies to design and build a service orientated PMO with services that are needed by your project community. At the top level (expert) certifcation you will have show you have the competencies to design and build one or more PMOs called (PMO topologies) within an integrated PMO Services topology. The second category of courses called 'Foundational certifcations' comprise of three certifications that are needed by everyone irrespective if you're a PMO or project team member or a PM/O director. The foundational courses are the techniques and tools of a trade, so they are needed by everyone including project professionals. The third category of certifications is called the 'Specialist' certifications because the directly relate to the ability to offer PMO services. If a PMO service is planned then the PMO needs to have the capability to offer them. There are over 20 specialist courses at the time of writing. These courses are also needed by project team members as well.
What are contact hours and how can i reach Specialist level 1?
AIPMO uses the term 'contact hours' for its virtual courses. Contact hours include course instruction, time allocated for homework and team exercises. Every course has allotted contact hours and once you pass the course exam, they will be accredited to your account. Once you have reached the threshold you will be awarded the specialist level certification
What is the difference between IPMO-F, IPMO-P and IPMO-E
These three certifications are part of the PMO core certifications. IPMO-F (Foundation) is for the PMO and project team member and covers topics around working in a PMO, also working in a project team. It covers the lower part of the AIPMO Strategic Lifecycle framework-.
IPMO-P (Practitioner) is for the PMO manager, project manager senior PMO and project team member. Covers topics how to identify the need for a PMO, design, justify and build a PMO and its services.
IPMO-E (Expert) is not for everyone. It is the top certification for PMO directors and consultants who are managing, consulting or designing enterprise PMO topologies and PMO Service topologies.
